What: “The 32nd annual Liberty Day festivities will be held on the city’s Main Street area. Liberty Day will include local vendors, a parade, a car show, fireworks and live music. There will be an evening of fun lined up Friday evening on June 29 beginning at 6:30PM and Saturday, June 30 Mayor Stancil Handley will provide a welcome at 9:00AM to kick off the Liberty Day activities.The Great American Hot Dog Stand is proud to sponsor the 2nd Annual Columbiana Liberty Day’s Hot Dog Eating contest. Registration will begin at 9am. Contest will be held at 12:30pm at the main stage on Main Street. Any questions please call Elizabeth Smith at 205-669-5808. There will be vendors, tons of activities children of all ages, and at 3:00PM the Liberty Day Parade will begin. The night of the 30th there will be live music, fireworks and the announcement of the Parade winners. If you would like to have an entry (vehicle, trailer, float) in the parade please contact Keyla KC Handley at 663-4542 ext. 106 or E-mail keyla@shelbychamber.org for a registration form and details about parade line-up, time and location. If you’re interested in participating as a food or arts and crafts vendor call Elizabeth Moody Smith at 669-6800 oresmith@cityofcolumbiana.com for more information. Liberty Day headliners include the Rock Candy Band on Friday and the Negotiators on Saturday. The Great American Hot Dog stand also will host the event’s second annual hot dog eating contest, and someone will be onsite to make balloon animals. This year’s Liberty Day will benefit the Warriors Heart Awareness Campaign through a silent auction and a raffle. “They help treat PTSD and other issues that veterans face. And it’s not just veterans.
